New Semiomantics XO Theme for WordPress

The above Screenshots represent just some of the pages, features and looks the 2012 Edition of the high performance XO Theme for WordPress has up its sleeves. The above site is the fruit of the 2 Days Ycademy Online Seminar for Semiomantics Developers and designers.

XO Theme Features

The 2012 Edition of XO is focused on even more flexibility in as much as editing, cross-browser and cross-platform compatibility are concerned.

The Site displays perfectly on Mobile devices, showing responsiveness also of the plugged in scripts chosen of which some have been adapted to satisfy the high standards of Semiomantics Publishing Scripts for Excellence.

The site elaborated at the Ycademy Online Seminar this past week-end features some smashing features, such as:

  • Background Slideshow, customizable for each page, post or archive
  • Built in Directory
  • Media Library for YouTube and Vimeo
  • Pro-sliders which can be deployed anywhere on the site
  • In addition to the responsive design, a separate light Mobile Version is available
  • Bold and Efficient Navigation
  • Built in Custom Fonts
  • Social Network connectivity and publishing
  • and much more.

XO for Developers

The XO script is well commented and offers designers a clean and straight forward environment for custom developments. XO uses best practices for WordPress development and makes the best use of the possibilities offered by the WP back-bone, assuring smooth integration and optimized conflict handling.

XO for Designers

XO is a great playground for designers. The DIY version allows anyone to adapt layout and colors to taste right from the back-office; there is no need to have any knowledge about coding or designing. The theme behaves like a Chameleon and adapts to specific needs with just a few clicks of the mouse: pre-configured layout elements transform your XO quickly into a Magazine, Newspaper, personal Author Blog, a Media Hub, a Shop, a Marketing Machine, a Social Media Publisher, a Product Promoter or a Fan Site or most anything your imagination dictates.

For the professional designer, XO offers a well commented environment. Custom code can be added right from the dashboard or, as I prefer using a child theme. XO is tuned for HTML5 and CSS3 use, making it a modern and inspiring framework for exceptional design effects.

XO out of the Box

Out of the box, the XO Theme for WordPress provides a stable and reliable, robust and optimized solution for common use. It provides built in features such a slider with multiple transitions and a one click selector for easy use.

Layouts can be easily adapted to needs and purpose of the site. In fact, most custom designers rely on the theme engine to format efficiently layouts.

Custom XO

The site featured in the above gallery uses a few pro plug-ins to add functionality in function of customer requirements. The integration of such add on scripts is a relatively simple process for designers and developers.

Customization of the XO Theme

XO has been developed for high performance, productivity, excellence in publishing and flexibility. For the professional users, the XO Theme constitues a solid base with a huge potential for customization and creative artistic expression.

Semiomantics XO 2012 Release

The release of XO Version 3.3.x is planned for the first week of February. The present Release Candidate has been thoroughly tested. A few minor issues will be taken care off before XO will be available to the public.

Upgrading existing XO installations

If your site is running on Semiomantics XO suing basic customization, the theme can just be overwritten. (Save your custom CSS beforehand.)

If you are using a custom version with custom developments or a child theme, some of your customization will need to be adapted to the enhancements of XO 2012. This concerns namely custom headers and footers as well as custom functions.

Support for developers and designers is available as usual at our Ycademy Online Calls and Seminars or through Semiomantics Pro Support.

New Facebook Timeline Profile

New Facebook Timeline Profile

With the Social Media Marketing buzz reaching peak levels in the virtual world… and the fierce competition – Google + – having come up with a social media platform I personally really like – Facebook is releasing its new Timeline and I’ve just got my head around setting up the new Facebook Timeline Profile – here’s a screenshot:

New Facebook Timeline Profile for Bianca Gubalke

New Facebook Timeline Profile

The New Facebook Timeline Profile features a bigger picture at the top with a very smooth and simple upload facility. The little icon to the left sits basically on top of it. As I did not want the face again, I added an icon first… see screenshot below – however, this little icon accompanies each post and, as this face is sort of known already and basically my brand, I gave it a slightly different shape and uploaded it. That it would come up large in 1 : 1 format on the resulting action was quite a surpise, but one will get used to this! In any case, everything is much better integrated as far as I can see.

New Facebook TImeline Profile by Bianca Gubalke - first version

To the far right, top, you see the timeline… and depending on when your online autobiography starts, that’s as far as it goes down. You can now go back in time and add comments, pictures, documents – whatever. We are writing our life story here – well, if that was my intention I would have to sit here for quite a while – but those who have been active on Facebook for a while will love this feature. It’s much more organized for sure and certainly a brilliant move – for Facebook.

The new Family Tree – let’s face it :)

Web Design with Passion

This Facebook page gives us a nice opportunity on a privileged spot to present who we are, show whatever we wish to be seen as or to simply give people an idea as to what our business is about.

In my case it’s Web Design with Passion – that’s what I stand for with all that’s connected to it: the Discussion and Research with the Customer, the entire Project Management, some Code, the entire Web Design including Media, Editing and SEO efficient Online Publishing… and all this on WP based Semiomantics Scripts of course. This means Google Top 10 positions and exposure on Social Networks.

Tip: make sure you go through your settings on Facebook to control who and what you allow.

Website Design

Original Article at Website Design.

Your Look and Feel make the Difference

The look of your website is the first impression visitors get about you, your business, your attitude and your professionalism. Surfing the web we notice that hype sites have a different look than professional well founded content sites. Online Casinos look differently than wellness sites and Government sites look different from personal blogs.

The presentation is a question of your personal preferences or also of your professional choice.

Ego Centered Websites

Ego centered web sites are designed based on personal preferences, such as a personal blog. Ego centered blogs are in first line here to please the creator. The approach can be without compromise and highlight mainly content of personal interest.

Visitor Centered Websites

Customer or Visitor Centered web sites are built with a purpose to communicate with a targeted audience. The look is an important element of communication, namely when it comes to the first impression and the immediate empathy that can be built or blocked.

First things first: first comes the over all look and impression, then the content.

The content can be split into the sites substantial content and as the case may be the commercial content (ads).

Publisher’s Choice

The Publisher will decide about targeted audience, market, look, priorities to fine tune then the over all look.

Niche Sites vs. Multi-Category Sites

Niche Sites have a clear advantage: you target a clearly defined audience, you know what the audience expects and you tune in function of such expectations and beyond.

If your site deals with Wellness, Art, News, Sports, Cars and Strip-tease, you address different target keywords. Even if one and the same person can be interested in all your categories, timing will become important:

If your visitor types into Google: Art and he ends up on a site with the look of a Strip-tease place, your first contact may not trigger the desired empathy. If on the other hand it’s time for a strip and your visitors is searching for that on Google an he then ends up on a site with the look of a weight loss site (with all it implies graphically, he may walk away with utmost frustration :-).

You therefore may notice that Multi-Category and Multi-Target sites keep a rather neutral look, may be news paper like, press like or even very minimalist.

Same Content Different Look

Here an example of the same content, wrapped up differently:

Yorgo Nestoridis Personal Yorgo Nestoridis Art Yorgo Nestoridis News

Believe it or not: the site content is identical on all three sites, but the look is completely different and will therefore please targets with different expectations. It is now a matter of allocating the content corresponding to a particular topic to the site with the corresponding look to create first impression empathy.

YORGOO Publishing Concept

Part of the YORGOO Publishing Concept is to stream information from Author’s sites to aggregators and then to the appropriate niche sites.

The Author’s site often is personal site, the aggregator can be a news paper type site and the niche sites have each different looks. The most flexible niche scripts are YORGOO Blaster and YORGOO Booster, whereas the Booster beats them all with the impressive first impression created with the mega header.

Blog for Money

Copyright © 2011 Yorgo Nestoridis. Visit the original article at http://yorgonestoridis.com/yorgo-nestoridis-publishing-1/blog-for-money/.

How to set up a Money Making Blog

We are looking at 4 essential elements needed to make money with your blog.

1. Traffic

Where there are no visitors, there is no money. Traffic will depend on how well you communicate the existence of your content or how well you promote your blog. Some of the most used ways to bring visitors to our blog are email, search engine optimization, aggregators, social networking, wod to mouth. In short: all means of communication are good to make people aware of our blog or a blog post.

2. Content

While the first task of your content is to be noticed by search engines and spiders in order to be indexed and listed in the most appropriate way, the second task is to provide your reader content of interest and value.

The indexing and listing makes it possible for people to find your posts when they search for information, solutions, benefits or for whatever they may type into a search box.

Once they are on your site, the quality of you content will decide on your success; it can build trust, inspire authority and most importantly, it can trigger people to help you promote your blog by sharing the post or URL with friends.

3. Ads

As a publisher, you want to optimize the mix of content and advertising. Many studies exist about how much space to allocate to ads and where to place commercial content. In fact there are no general rules as the optimization will depend on your topic and targeted readership and what your visitors expect (and are used to).

One rule however seems to make its way: don’t exaggerate! Too high density of ads annoys your visitors, namely if they came to your site for its content. A few well placed ads are more efficient than a page displaying ads and pop-ups all over the screen.

4. Your Publishing Framework

This is the technical aspect of your venture. A website is a publication and you are a publisher. Your Publishing framework can help you to better promote you content and to display content to your audience in a more attractive and eye catching way. The framework is also responsible for the first impression based on your choices for a layout and style  (colors, images, graphics, fonts and so on).

Blog for Money

Blog for Money

You framework is the technical back bone of your site as well. It can contain all sorts of features which automate processes and make your life easier. Your advertising features and mechanisms can be part of the framework and run on a set and forget base.

There are many ways to display ads or to add commercial content to your site. We will post about a whole array of means at your disposal in our next post.

How to Build a Money Making Blog?

We will spend the coming week-end at the Ycademy Online Seminar where we will build a Framework which is optimized for delivering ads to our target audience. We will report about the event next week.

Google Top 10 Formula

How to reach Google Top 10 Positions?

Over the years we have come across many promising formulas to reach Google Top 10 Positions. Hype Promotion guaranteeing Google Top 10 position on any keyword is sent to your spam box daily and promising, well designed sales pages are even promoted by Google Ads which is in complete contradiction to the products’ claimed merits.

The simple Google Top 10 Formula

Seriously, nobody can guarantee Google Top 10 positions on any keyword. However there are some clear ways of proceeding to put the best chances on your side of the table. Consider also that Google’s algorithm evolves and the filtering is subject to change. By adopting the following formula you will most likely be successful, very successful.

1. Get a domain name representing your keyword.

For example, keyword.com

Don’t tell me the .com of your keyword has gone; you can always build your keyword into a key-phrase which will work fine. Remember, the closer you are to what people actually type into the search form, the higher your chance of being found.

Example: how-to-change-a-light-bulb.com

Watch out: don’t use Brand Names or Trademarks without authorization in your domain name. Google-Top-10.com would be clearly against Google’s terms as well as it would be sanctioned by law.

2. Load a website based on a Search Engine Optimized Script.

No doubt some sites do better than others and some scripts give you a fair advantage, namely if you are not a SEO expert. Semiomantics scripts, the ones I am using, have been developed to provide to anyone an optimized framework with high publishing power. The power of clean, search engine optimized scripts has been proven time and again and you will find many samples of  Google Top 10 performance by Semiomantics based scripts.

I put the script right on the number two position, because we have demonstrated that you can reach Google Top 10 simply with a domain and a script without any content.

Here is a shocking example: a year ago or longer we have loaded a domain renateschedl.com to demonstrate that we can beat easily renate-schedl.com, renate-schedl.de and so on. Our renateschedl.cm has been for as long as it exists on Google number 1 without any content other than a reference to Semiomantics and a basic configuration targeting the irrelevant keyword Fibromyalgia. Check out Renete Schedl.

My point is of purely educational nature: Renate is a dear friend and great marketer. But in a way she also is victim of ‘keyword-theft’, ‘name-theft’ or whatever you want to call a sly form of legal identity theft:

Large networks, such a linked-in, facebook, twitter and others grab your name to get their websites on top of Google under your neme keyword. Your site, having less authority than the big boys, falls back and often disappears from the top 10, even if you use your name as domain name. The big boys place their ads along with your name, profile or keyword and make the bucks while you, fooled,  have thought that they would help you to promote your business.

Renate Schedl on Google

Renate Schedl on Google

Observe that ranks 2–5 are monopolized by the big boys, leaving Renate just with the breadcrumbs.

Result: the Semiomantics Framework does better even without any content, proving it’s superior quality and long term efficiency. So far for the Script test.

3. Create a Clear, Keyword related site structure

Create a structure where you can easily organize your content in function of the targeted niches and keywords. A site map is agood idea to allow Google’s search spiders to easily find your content and to index it contextually.

4. Create Good Contextual Content

You don’t need to be a genius. But original, interesting content is a plus.

5. Edit your Content

Editing your content in an optimized way needs a little effort and is not as easy as it may seem: experience shows that many a great Author does not appear on Google Top 10 with brilliant content, just because the content is not edited in the best possible way. Editing is a job you can learn. Ycademy Online Seminars and Trainings are available for that.

6. Publish your Content

It’s a bit like the Editing job; brilliant content, lousily published will just not make it. The quality of your publishing can be improved largely with a solid site framework, such as Semiomantics frameworks. Personal fine-tuning however will always make the difference. Publishing is an art but you can learn it. Ycademy seminars and Trainings cover this topic as well.

7. Consistency and Focus

Make it a rule to think in campaigns, whereas the goal is to get your site to Google Top 10 ranking on the selected keyword or keyphrase.

Example: if your site is about “How to publish a Newsletter” then post about this topic as many posts as are needed to reach your Top 10 ranking, in stead of jumping from one topic to the next without ever reaching on any keyword an authority position.

YORGOO Publishing, another Semiomantics based site has reached rank 4 on “How to publish your Newsletter” with just one post, beating 242,000,000 competitors on Google.

How to Publish your Newsletter on Google

How to Publish your Newsletter on Google

Once you have reached your top 10 position, you must maintain it; just continue to publish once in a while, depending on the competition, a post targeting the selected keyword.

A campaign on a keyword is similar to promoting a URL: keep your focus until the goal is reached before you shift to the next keyword. If and when you shift, make sure you have the necessary resources to campaign for the next keyword while maintaining your achievements on the first target.

8. Know your Priorities

Focus on reaching Google Top 10 before you think about web design, graphics, ads and other distractions. If your site can not be found by searchers, no one will ever see your ads or beautiful graphics.

Priority number one is therefore: Reach Google Top 10!

Once you are there, you are interested in offering your visitors a good first impression: create empathy with your site design, look and feel. Aim to offer your visitors quality content and a positive surfing experience.

Only on the third level or priorities I put ads.

There are always exceptions to the rules and there are just two of them to mention: YORGOO Blaster and the new YORGOO Booster; these are two systems which are ads related, more than content related and follow their own path.

Conclusion

Applying the above rules, I have been doing pretty well over the years and I believe all those who have followed Ycademy Seminars and who have implemented the above on their own sites are reaching Google Top 10 positions … almost at will and more importantly: the Google Top 10 rankings have long lasting effects and that is where you make and save money in your marketing effort.

AuctionTalkLive and YORGOO Media

When about 10 days ago AuctionTalkLive and namely the blaster at BiancaGubalke.AuctionTalkLive as well as YORGOO Media sub-domains disappeared from the radar on Google, we had t express our frustration, for once not publicly but behind the scenes. The result: both domains are back, however we will need to fight to get our top listings back.

It’s rare to see a site back before 6 months at least once banned by Google.

How to prevent from being banned by Google?

Doing some research, you will find, that no one really knows much more than: comply with Google’s Terms and Rules. In fact if you comply with those rules, you have at least an argument.

[yorgooads]

In stead of giving just a set of rules to follow besides those famous terms, let me just focus on the Blog-master’s attitude. For as long as you aim to deliver to your readers good content and add truthful contextual meta data, you have a good chance to remain on the safe side.

But there is more: Search Engine Optimization can back-fire when exaggerated. If you use all possible tools simultaneously to optimize your site, you may be overdoing it. A wise choice of optimization strategies and a moderate approach to marketing aggressiveness will make the difference between your site and your competitors’ publications as well as between you and those who see their sites banned. Remember the famous case of BMW, where the company site was banned for over tuning the site in a way considered as abusive. However, there are no clear rules about what is abusive and what passes the test.

Semiomantics SEO Tuning

Some of the best kept secrets by Webmasters are their money making keywords and the way they tune their sites to reach Google Top rankings. At Semiomantics we permanently test settings and strategies to promote our publishing frameworks and to reach high visibility and Google Top 10 positions. Such internal test results and settings are only shared at Ycademy Online Seminars to allow participants to fully profit from our best features and strategies.

Google’s appreciation may change from time to time and what was a successful strategy yesterday, may find itself disgrace tomorrow. Permanent adjusting and adapting is necessary to remain on top of things and of … Google.

Semiomantics SEO Management Services

Semiomantics Customers purchase the best Framework and get a high performance product delivered at the time of the purchase. As we notice an ever faster spinning spiral of renewals, updates and upgrades on all parts of the used software, it becomes increasingly important to keep scripts and SEO Strategies up to date and adapted to the latest standards. This development is beyond our influence, however we would like to assure that our customers remain on track with their objectives and in line with the best possible SEO Standards and Strategies.

While we are not here to create content for our customers, we can provide them with an updated framework and assure the proper functioning of the site and SEO implementation to the latest standards.

Based on our time sheet tracking over the bast 6 months we notice that this involves quite some time per site per month and we will need to involve additional manpower to take care of the tasks. For this reason and to assure the best possible service we have set up our Semiomantics SEO Management Services for Semiomantics Customers as well as for webmasters using other WordPress based frameworks.

The Semiomantics SEO Management Service for Semiomantics Customers is priced on subscription bases, for the time being at $30 per month. For users of other WordPress based Frameworks the Semiomantics SEO Management Service is priced at $120 per month.

YORGOO Press Widget Hooks

Subsequent to Bianca’s request we have set up a demo version of YORGOO Press, visualizing the various spots where widgets can be placed on the Home Page of YORGOO Press.

WordPress vs YORGOO Press

If you are used to WordPress standards, then you know the widget tab onn the Dashboard. Usually, and it’s theme depending, widgets are placed in the sidebar of the WordPress themes.

At YORGOO Press the home page layout is different; it’s a newspaper layout to optically remind visitors of a press product. While there is a sidebar on the lower part of the home page, you are not limited to use widgets in the sidebar only. In fact we have built widget hooks into most any field of the layout.

Two Types of Widgets on YORGOO Press

There are two types of widgets available:

- Widgets which add content to the existing content in the lay-out grid

- Widgets which replace the content in the grid.

Any text area of the Lay-out grid can be used wither in combination with widgets or replaced by widgets.

Where can widgets be placed on YORGOO Press?

To visualize the widgets we have set up a Demo version of YORGOO Press.

YORGOO Press Demo 1 YORGOO Press Demo 3

Important: you must respect the width of each column, the vertical dimension is variable and to taste. Make sure to balance the columns so they all have about the same height.

Enable the widgets you would like to use from your Dashboard under Appearance — Widgets.

What can be loaded into the Widgets

You can choose from the widget list or you can load most anything by using the text widget: most any advertising code, such as Google or Amazon can be loaded. You even can create html code, just make sure you respect the width.

You can load media content, call me buttons, radio or TV … anything you like such as the local weather, stock quotes, a drawing board, you name it.

Experiment and enjoy to make your site more interesting and unique.
