October – December 2010

Here below you will find the schedule of Ycademy till end of 2010. Before entering into the details, let me put the program into the wider context of our development.

Context

There are a few major events ahead of us:

  1. The consolidation of Semiomantics: Semiomantics will become a joint team of developers, designers and representatives. For this purpose we must become fit for the task individually and as a team. Also we need to be able to present our team and those involved to the public in the most advantageous way. At present an exercise is under way at the new Evo site where Bianca offers her help to all in order to build a AAA Image of the Semiomantics team.
  2. The new release of YORGOO, which will be a very sophisticated Multi-Site installation with surprising capabilities: we are developing a new Semiomantics WP MS membership site which focuses on communication between a personal website, members, Google and Facebook. More about the project later.
  3. The further Consolidation of the personal Publishing networks: after the NewsCast aggregator we will move to a new Author Blog and then streamline the Consultant, Web design and Shop Sites.
  4. The recent developments in Customer demand: based on technical developments, customers become more demanding when it comes to site building and development; this concerns namely media content, interactivity, connectivity with social media and networks.
  5. In January, Ycademy will be delivering again a mix of basic and advanced courses. If possible, we would like to  entrust those who have gone through the Ycademy educational programs with topic specific YORGOO and Ycademy calls as from February.

Ycademy Logo 2

October Ycademy

In October we will finish up with NewsCast where not yet done and then work on the future corporate image of Semiomantics; this means for parties interested in being part of Semiomantics, to build a personal image and presentation according to semiomantics standards and guidelines. Bianca is working with you on these pages to start with on the new Semiomantics EVO site.

The Ycademy October Seminar will bring us a big step ahead in as much as our WordPress related knowledge is concerned. On the example of the new Author Blog we will become familial with new design, editing and publishing standards which will slowly but surely become standards on WordPress Blogs and CMS.

This is an extremely important Seminar for all who wish to do custom design and website development. Also, all participants will end up with a brand new Author Site built according to the highest standards and customized during the Seminar.

The last October week will be reserved to do some post-seminar work if we are not able to handle the whole curriculum during the week-end.

Ycademy Logo 3

November

Between the 1 of November and the November Seminar, there are 20 calls. We will build 20 products in 20 calls. These will be Semiomantics products you may sell directly from your store. These products will also constitute a solid base for your portfolio. This 20 calls – 20 products will be a spectacular exercise!

To be able to work efficiently we will need to have an training site which will be provided by Ycademy – you will get a sandbox site at Ycademy net which we will set up by November for each participant.

The goal is to get better and faster and more flexible with theme customization and to experience the joy of being able to tweak any theme to customer needs. The reason for this mega exercise is in the increasing cost of site development and design as the competition gets rougher and as we need to be able to build sites with a unique look, touch and feel in useful time.

Ycademy Logo 4

The November Seminar

The Seminar will have to deal with the consolidation of the work done in November and will culminate in building and setting up a personal portfolio, linked to the Shop, the Consultant site as well as to the Author site. The seminar will finally put the pieces and bits together to end up with a professionally looking online business.

After the seminar I expect some post-seminar sessions to take place to finalize some details.

Ycademy Logo 5

December

December will be focused on the new YORGOO Network. A special presentation will take place shortly with a preview of what will be coming. Important: all Semiomantics Partners will be exposed in YORGOO to help new subscribers; this concerns namely configuration and customization services.

In December Ycademy Pros will become familiar with the new YORGOO Network and test it. YORGOO will be a membership program with multiple membership levels and  packages.

December Seminar

The December Seminar will deal with YORGOO and we will set up participants’ websites there. This will give participants an advance of 1 month before we officially go public with YORGOO. During that time we will prepare the internal products on offer for YORGOO users.

Ycademy Logo 6

Ycademy Pro Benefits

The Ycademy team as well as all those who have followed our seminars, have acquired tremendous knowledge. This knowledge is exploited individually and in the future also collectively by joining forces in various ventures such as:

  • Photo Media Stock
  • Semiomantics
  • YORGOO
  • Ycademy

As soon as YORGOO 2011 will be released we will again strictly separate between Ycademy calls and YORGOO calls, whereas the Ycademy Pros will take the leading role in the development of YORGOO 2011.

More than ever an online business needs professional websites and website development. Leading by doing will show that the impossible can become possible with the right attitude, means and efforts even for those who have limited financial resources and time.

Ycademy Logo 7

Bianca Gubalke on Google Wave

by Bianca Gubalke

Bianca Gubalke on Google Wave

Bianca Gubalke on Google Wave – I am excited about this future-oriented new Communication and Collaboration tool on the Web – and I thank the friend who invited me. As yes. . .  it needs an invitation… and it’s early days. However,  Google Wave can only be as good as the people who actually have it, set it up, test it, work with it and play with it. People like you and me who firstly create and then ride the Google Wave. . .

The Internet is a pretty wet affair… from surfing to waving. . . we stay in the waters and if I look outside it’s a wave all over, a curtain of a wave of pouring rain, day and night, since a week… where is our sunny, hot and simply stunning South African summer? A summer we love to spend on Noordhoek Beach as the kid below just a month or so ago. . . ?

Bianca Gubalke on Google Wave

Let’s quickly look at Google Wave. It has a simple layout consisting of 4 modules:

* Navigation in the left column, top – consider it your Inbox

* Contacts in the left column, bottom – sort of your Addressbook or List of Friends (with pictures)

* List of Active Waves in your Inbox – in the middle column

* New or Open Wave in the right column – here is where things happen, here you can write, comment, add images, respond via audio or video, add gadgets (like games, puzzles, ratings, conferences, Google Earth…)  and robots ( eg. for surveys amongst Wave collaborators).

If you are fortunate enough to get a Google Wave account, do what I did right away and check out the many short yet explicit videos that illustrate the many features – and then play with them!

Bianca Gubalke on Google Wave

As with any Social Network, you want to set up your Profile in a professional and branded way. Besides, Google is the Master of the Internet in a way and has found the many versions of YOU anyway – be it in form of Blogs, Websites and other Links.

My Profile about “Bianca Gubalke on Google Wave” is a reflection of what I set up on my general Bio and Profile HERE. If you wish to have a Profile that you can link to from everywhere on the Internet, register for a free account right there and I teach you how to have your own Google-efficient page. Once done, you never have to worry about it again. . . just do the occasional update. The difference here is that this page is under YOUR control – not that of any Social Network or other Program. Be and stay independent – as far as that’s possible on Web2.0.

What still needs to be added is my Picasa Album, which I will do in the near future – then it’s all about the Wave!

What do you do on Google Wave?

A good question: What do you do on Google Wave?

Google Wave is still in a development stage and I assume that those who are fortunate enough to test it right now will provide lots of feedback and valuable input for improvements and adaptations to common needs.

Once the excitement of the new trend is over, I could imagine a very useful tool to work directly on projects with ones’ collaborators and partners from anywhere in the world. This is the thrilling concept behind it as far as I am concerned. If one can stop the spam before it starts and really work within an open yet private and respected environment – that would be perfect!

Here are just a few Benefits that simply trigger faster Action more often:

* The moment someone comes online, one would know through the green mark. Action!

* The moment a wave is updated or gets a new comment, one would know and be able to check immediately without losing time. Action!

* If something needs commenting – it’s instant, whether in the open or in form of private replies.

* If something needs the direct contact – say a document or article needs to be discussed in real time – voila! Let’s talk or even start a conference! Instant Action!

These are amazing possibilities saving  time and making teamwork faster, smoother and more efficient – not to speak about excluding misunderstandings right away through immediate interaction.
What always amazes me with Google is the amount of foresight and preparation at the highest levels. But then if not them… who else could deliver at that level in the virtual world?

So let’s learn all about the new tool and expect lots more to be coming from Google Wave in the future!

Learn Google Wave at Ycademy Seminars

To learn more about Google Wave at Ycademy Seminars get one of the few privileged tickets for the Ycademy November Seminar on 21 and 22 November 2009, totally online and recorded for Seminar participants! Knowledge is Power – and Ycademy Seminars add Action to it, guiding you forward on your personal “Path to Profitability”.

Communication with Birds

by Bianca Gubalke

Communication with Birds

Communication with Birds is a red thread through my life. . . but this was definitely a Cape White-eye SOS this morning! Panic in my garden!

Social Networks

These tiny birds form large “social networks” outside the breeding season and often visit flowering bushes or berry-bearing plants in large flocks – appearing like shimmering clouds feeding on insects and nectar, berries, fruit and small grains.

Cape White-eye Online by Bianca Gubalke

As in all Social Networks (in one way or another), Cape White-eyes are very vocal and can easily be distinguished by their soft trilled pee, pree or pirreee callnotes that they use to stay connected, however, what I heard this morning was a highly agitated pitch varying in volume and tempo. . .

Communication with Birds

One doesn’t need a degree in Communication with Birds to understand if something is wrong – and to react accordingly… and fast!

MadMax was with me, so it wasn’t the cat… but it could be a snake, a hawk or a mongoose… to name just a few of many possibilities.

Cape White-eye

Guided by what turned out to be the parents, I discovered a tiny little Cape White-eye (Zosterops pallidus, ‘Glasogie’ in Afrikaans) sitting motionless on the ground – an easy prey for any predator. I had to operate fast to capture the little being and get it into a safe, warm place – while the parents fluttered in great distress around me. . . and MadMax already watched my movements with great interest from my studio. Getting him out there and me inside – the adorable little being warmly covered with my hands – was not an easy operation, however, he also seemed to . . . understand!

Finally, I could check this tiny feather ball without finding any external damage, caress it and get some life back into it… while the parents watched through the windows, cheering with their little voices.

When I was called to my PC to answer a call… the idea of  “Cape White-eye Online” was born!

Cape White-eye Online by Bianca Gubalke

I took a series of quick – and far from optimal shots photographically speaking – with my Logitech camera, however, you rarely get a Cape White-eye chick this close in front of your lens! And how exciting and touching: you see how it basically ‘woke up’ and then flew onto a window sill – an indication that after all it was well! it could fly!

Cape White-eye Online by Bianca Gubalke

So I caught it gently and took it to the golden Solandra Maxima tree I told you about in an earlier post – where I know many birds are currently breeding – and let it fly into the air! It was wonderful to see it happy and free… and immediately its parents were around with some tremolo chirps… and life continued as normal!

Google Wave Communication Tools

by Bianca Gubalke

Google Wave Communication Tools

Google Wave Communication Tools determine the way we will communicate and interact on Web2.0 in the near future; it is the big OLA! you definitely want to catch and ride with ease the moment you can.

Google Wave by Bianca Gubalke Art

Of course, there are waves and waves… so: what does the “Google Wave” stand for?

About Google Wave

This is what I found directly on wave.google.com – the source so to speak:

Conversation and Document

“A wave is equal parts conversation and document. People can communicate and work together with richly formatted text, photos, videos, maps, and more.”

WOW – this will be saving lots of time and speed up the communication process immensely, also making so many time-consuming extra miles redundant – although they may have their charm and thus their place. It’s gain a matter of choice.

Example: If I send out an invitation for a party, I can do so the noble yet complex low-tech way and expect RSVPs in the same way. Which rarely happens. . .

Alternatively, I can use the Google Wave Communication Tools and everything is in one place and easy to be responded to by anyone, while being open to all. It’s so-to-speak one invitation document bundling a wave of conversation in forms of enthusiastic yesses, apologetic no’s and the usual odd questions. All in a mini-blink of an eye… almost immaterial and certainly less than a laborious mouse click.

Sharing

“A wave is shared. Any participant can reply anywhere in the message, edit the content and add participants at any point in the process. Then playback lets anyone rewind the wave to see who said what and when.”

Actually, we’ve been exercising the “wave principle” already in our Conference Rooms during say Ycademy Seminars. Everyone coming in – even if hours late – can scroll back and follow the conversation (chat) right from the beginning and then add an input… at the end of it.

Mark the difference: at the end… not inbetween. If that’s now going to be possible on Google Wave we’re messing up the concept of linear time – I’m all for it! Perhaps we learn something to apply to our lives… like going back in time and doing things different! Let good old Stephen Hawkins get back to the drawing board and rewrite the History of Time!

Real Time – Live

“A wave is live. With live transmission as you type, participants on a wave can have faster conversations, see edits and interact with extensions in real-time.”

Faster than fast – past Facebook and Tweets…  that’s where we’re going! Instant. Live. We’ve got to have our act together to avoid ‘doing’ before ‘thinking’ – or is it all about a spontaneous reaction… reflex… almost non-existent, over, forgotten, next… ?

Social Networks watch out!

Google Wave Communication Tools on Google Top 10

“Google Wave Communication Tools” made it speedily to Google Top 10 within just a few hours… ahead of over 3,6 million search returns – here’s the screenshot:

Google Wave Communication Tools on Google Top 10
This high performance in terms of Search Engine Optimization just reflects the results achievable when the right Script – in this case a WordPress based Semiomantics Script – is paired with correct Editing and Publishing as taught in the monthly Ycademy Seminars – even on high traffic keywords.

Google Wave Communication Tools on Ycademy Seminar

While such results are not achieved overnight, everybody can acquire the Knowledge and Skills.

If you enjoy doing so within the safe and trusted environment of a bonded Team, join us on the next fully online Ycademy Seminar on 21 and 22 November 2009 which focuses on Social Network Publishing in general and “Google Wave” in particular.

Facebook Profile

by Bianca Gubalke

Facebook Profile

When dealing with Social Networks on the Internet, Facebook is a key player and whether we like this social arena of Mr. Everybody or not… what is important is to create a Facebook Profile that reflects who we are or how we wish to present ourselves when it comes to Social Network Publishing.

Facebook Profile Picture

Besides being in control of our names – ideally as a .com – the next step is to upload a Facebook Profile Picture.

Bianca Gubalke Profile Picture on Facebook

While my usual colour scheme is reflected on the white-black-silver-red version below , I tried to play with Facebook and integrated their illustruous variety of blue hues in a soft degrade – the above is a screenshot and not as sharp as in reality.  When trying to define a color, you’ll notice that the color code changes with almost every new placement of your color picker – amazing!

I intentionally didn’t want to start off with a tone-in-tone of their grey in my top picture frame, but rather have it flow in and merge in a more dynamic yet unobtrusive way.

The little thumbnail works perfectly well, but too much traffic on Facebook or slow connections down here in South Africa probably caused the error when I did the Screenshot above.

Small Business Ideas Branding 2

Small Business Ideas Branding 2

Having written a post about branding Small Business Ideas I noticed that when the post was published the blockquote was hugging the visual presentation as you see from the image below.

Small Business Ideas branding

Small Business Ideas branding

Blockquote , pullquote

As you can see from the above blockquote that is used to illustrate the codes used, it totally hugs the graphic. This error can be easily rectified by just correcting the margin of the blockquote in the stylesheet.

By changing:

This:margin: 0 0 0 30px;
to this: margin: 0 0 30px 30px;

we create a margin of 30px below the blockquote, thus seperating the blockquote from the image. Visually, this is more acceptable as you can see from the result below.

Networking with YORGOO

Networking with YORGOO

When building an online Business there are three crucial ‘first steps’ to be taken:

1. Choose your domain name - in other words your Brand.

2. Get your own Hosting to be independent and continue Branding your Name.

3. Build your Network - meaning a pool of people who have given you permission to contact them and ultimately present them with your Business, be it a product, a service or a membership.

Those of us who created and built YORGOO did so to be and remain as independent as possible while benefiting from the YORGOO Teamwork, high-quality Education and the unique synergies between members who have gone a long path together, who have a Dream and who are determined to achieve it… or at least come close to it - while knowing it’s a process.

The Internet changes daily as we see with the regular updates of about everything we have to lay our hands on to be operable and at the forefront of technological developments when it comes to websites and Google efficient Blogs.

For the new YORGOO Member - or any newcomer to the Internet - this may seem daunting - and it is! Without a clear guideline from those who do the business day-in, day-out and are willing to share, support and teach… and trustworthy partners without dollar signs in their eyes, one can lose one’s way, money, time and enthusiasm rather fast.

That’s why YORGOO is exactly what’s needed - and it’s much more than a safe haven, traffic machine and downline builder! Attending the daily calls in http://yorgotalk.com at 9 pm London time shows a very high level of education and knowhow… maybe too high for the average Internet surfer… BUT ideal for those who are determined to move forward, get the Knowledge and develop an own Business in a serious and future-oriented way.

Bring your Knowledge, Skills and Talent to the Internet

“You either have a Business on the Internet or you have no business” - Bill Gates said this a few years ago and it’s becoming clearer every day and all over the world what it means and what the implications are.

Therefore, bringing your talents, professionalism, knowledge, skills etc to the Internet and developing all this into a Business - YOUR business - is the right way to go. Of course, there are lots of MLMs and hyped sites - however, this is in no way the Independence I personally need and for sure you are neither your “own boss” nor do you have any rights should the company go down. It may be fun as a second leg - but certainly don’t put all your eggs in one single basket, especially not if you are not the captain, not the owner, not the one who’s in charge.

YORGOO offers you all the basic Equipment you need for your Online Home Business

1. Get your Domain name at http://yorGOdom.com

It’s the Team Domain name Host and you are not only in charge here, you pay the lowest cost and you won’t lose your domain name - as happened to me. No more risks!

2. Get your Hosting at http://chihosters.com at $35,00 a year and with the finest support - noone beats that!

3. Build your Network with YORGOO.Fun and Efficiency!

My personal Tip: register for free - have a look around… but invest in $9.95 per month to become a PRO and have access to your Network. Be in charge and act as such. Building a Team means being a Leader and collecting Followers. Be Pro - right from the start.

4. Once a month, attend the 2-day weekend YCADEMY Business Building Seminar - fully online and recorded. Invest in yourself.

5. Register with Cashflowin in your YORGOO Back Office and start the journey of an independent Business Owner - starting with your “Secret Garden” that connects you with your rreal Purpose, from where follows the Plan - the foundation of your Online Enterprise. Start small - think Big! Our list of successful REAL enterprises that started with YORGOO and followed the YCADEMY courses is growing daily.

Decide and take Action!

Congratulations YORGOO Life Member Alejandra Neri

YORGOO is NO MLM, but the perfect place to build your Network. While you can introduce as many people as you like, those people have the exact same right… and so a little “Heap” grows into a bigger “Heap” and if you follow the YORGOO principles, you end up having a real BIG “Heap” - all people you can communicate with and have exchanges in one or the other way.

As in any Business, you set yourself goals - personal goals that you as an individual wish to achieve - and goals for your network. Its size, its level of activity, its productivity and so on.

Alejandra Neri on YORGOO

Alejandra Neri on YORGOO

Today we wish to congratulate Alejandra Neri from Rome, Italy, for achieving one of her personal benchmarks: a personally recruited network of 1000 Members! Bravo! Of course, her entire network is much larger… but there’s nothing better than leading by example!

This great achievement also shows that if you work the YORGOO Plan - the YORGOO Plan works for you. And whether you sell a service or a product, you will need leads to talk to, meaning visitors… people interested in what you have to offer.

From here it’s about Communication… which is Networking.

“Alex” has diligently followed her networking goals in YORGOO - and achieved her 1000 personally recruited members today.

And once we’ve reached one summit… we set our eyes on the next one!
