Well, we’re all excited here – the annual Oyster Festival is days away: it starts on Friday!

Knysna is all about fun, oysters, AND houseboating. (Truly, we are not blowing our own trumpets – Lightleys is part of South African holiday folklore. Just about everyone knows someone who had their honeymoon here, or came here as a kiddie…)

Now, as a special Oyster Festival treat, Lightleys is offering a 10% discount on houseboat daytrips on the gorgeous Knysna lagoon.

From only R140 to R360 per person per day you can take a party of up to eight people out on the water – and we’ll even lay on oysters and sparkling wine for you!

Calling all fishermen !   You really should bring your tackle to Knysna this weekend – we’ve had rain and the weather is ‘onstuimig’ – which, as the boffs among you know, means that the fishing is going to be good.

The area is teeming with especially Steenbras, Grunteras and Leeries at the moment, and with the sea cold, many of them will be heading into the lagoon and warmer water.

Sand prawns, pink prawns and especially bloodworm will get your line twitching.

Now, here’s an enterprising fellow:

That’s a ‘boer maak n plan’ sort of thing, isn’t it?  He wanted to get his hook WAY OUT THEEEERE…..and his plan worked. Obviously a serious fisherman!

And on that note, you all have yourselves a great week!

Customizing your WPTouch Pro skin is similar to customizing your XO all together, In fact, from an editing and design point of view, be prepared to some work! To display your Mobile XO on multiple platforms of the mobile web, you need to take into account the different screen resolutions and of course screen sizes, which means that you may have to load different versions of your graphics and images.

For the purpose of the XO Blog Mobile version, I have thought about sticking to my preferred design colors and fonts: red and gray scale as well as Helvetica for easy reading.

As you can see, from the above blog home, I have taken out backgrounds, round corners, paddings and margins to just separate posts by a dotted line. Header size, icons and post thumbnails have been increased in size for a better surf experience.

The menu page underwent the same cure:

As you know, I like it bold and minimalist and I guess it’s pretty much what you get here.

My Noordhoek Blog

My Noordhoek Blog got a maintenance-cleanup today, meaning it was a regular check-up for updates for  WordPress, the Semiomantics XO Script and the few plugins I am using. Further to this, a friendly ex & hop for all sorts of spam comments in the dashboard or error files on the server. Now still a little optimizing and we will be fine!

My Noordhoek Blog is basically just another Web Design example in my collection – but there’s something I really like about this Blog and I wish I could dedicate myself more specifically to it in terms of posts and articles. There’s so much to see, to discover and to write about Noordhoek and its unique and spectacular natural environment as well as its people – who are a bunch of highly creative, very private, compassionate, Nature-loving and spiritual individuals who all do their own thing but stick together as ONE when help is needed – like in the historic fires in January 2000!

Obviously, everything I write on my Author Blog fits in perfectly for the simple reason that I am living in Noordhoek, South Africa and I love it! It’s a place that has depth, magic and music to it – besides nestling between the mountains and the sea. The longer I live here the more I uncover. . . even historically speaking.

A click on the corresponding image-slide links up with the corresponding category of the website, guiding the visitor where he wants to go and whre you want to guide him.
