Ycademy Facebook Seminar

Following up on the work that we did in Facebook during the Ycademy Facebook Seminar I could not help but notice a very intriguing post by Yorgo Nestoridis, an invitation to come and join in in a bit of fun.

Ycademy Facebok Seminar Fun

Of course, like most people, I  just love to have a bit fun so I accepted his invitation. While enjoying a bit of messing around this little snippet caught my eye so I just had to do something with it!

Enjoy!

Visual Communication on Facebook

Visual Communication on Facebook and other Social Networks – in fact the Internet as a whole – is the trend in our fast-moving world on the go. Hardly anyone has the time nor the inclination to write or to read… or let’s say, it’s a matter of priorities. As we all have so much to cover each day of our lives – inbetween the family and the profession – we have to compromise and make choices as to how much time we can allocate or want to invest in what topic, with which person or doing what activity.

Visual Communication on Facebook

Visual Communication on Facebook

While Visual Communication on Facebook may be the modern way of transmitting messages, it’s not that different from the ancient times of hieroglyphics and cave paintings! In both cases the idea is that the image  conveys the message fast and clear. In fact, the bushman paintings in the Kaokoveld of Southern Africa are not only aethetically stunning – especially with the effects of weather and time having influenced the colors and graphics over ages – but they express what the artist – possibly a hunter or medicine man himself – wanted to communicate to those who would visit the cave, the ancient ‘post box’ or ‘message board’. Interestingly, there are stunning parallels if cave paintings all over the world, eg in Lascaux in France and those in South Africa, are compared as I saw in scientific documentaries by the BBC.

Semiomantics Web Design

As Semiomantics Web Design is my professional focus and part of my passion right now, this is what I communicate to anyone visiting my personal or “Best Look” webpage on Facebook.

First impressions count and we often only have one shot… so we want to ensure we project the best image, our “best look” online.

However, while Facebook is a great way to interact – it’s Facebook, it’s not our home turf, it’s not under our control and we are – in a certain way – guests in someone else’s house. Yes, I agree… here the guests ARE the house, however, it doesn’t belong to the guests. Duhhh… ever thought of that?

Therefore, to safeguard our identity and to project a professional image, we also want our OWN house – and on the Internet that’s our OWN website and/or blog.Do you invite your friends and/or business associates and potential customers to a friends house to meet them? Would you? I don’t think so – so why would you do so online?

Sure, Facebook is fantastic for private matters, but most of us have a product or a service to sell – so we’ve got to find ways of dealing with professionals in a professional way.

Creating anyone’s personalized, customized and optimized Personal or Business Website and/or Blog, Photo Album, Business Presentation as well as a professional Facebook Image – is what I focus on with all it entails. Keep an eye on the next posts as there’s much more in the pipeline… and it’s exciting!

Vouliagmeni Events: Dance at the Lake

The purpose of the below video is to test different image treatments and encoding. The photos have been shot on June 23, 2010 at Lake Vouliagmeni, our sweet-water lake with thermal qualities.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=XHOusKsK8sA

Some of the images render well after encoding, others namely where Photoshop styles have been applied are clearly weaker. The full slideshow in avi format came in with over 8,72GB. Compression brought the file down to some 3.2 MB (flv in YouTube); the mp4 version HQ22 is about 20 MB and streams smoothly on a fast connection.

The slides have been mounted on Sony Vegas Pro 9.0 64-bit version. This award winning software is extremely user-friendly and accessible to newbies.
I will do a further test using Adobe’s Premier Pro before drawing final conclusions.

Best Look Flash on Facebook

Best Look Flash on Facebook

Finally, “Best Look” Flash has made it to  Facebook – the way it was intended according to the highly informative, comprehensive and eye-opening Flash Workshop within the Ycademy Seminar this past weekend!

Best Look Flash on Facebook

Best Look Flash on Facebook

Following Facebook’s rules and regulations, we have to camouflage a Flash website if we introduce it into our Facebook environment – that’s why you see a semi-transparent layer hiding my “Best Look” Flash on Facebook, with an invitation to click and view the flash in ‘real’ view. Please click on the (compressed)  pictures for better viewing.

The banner to the left is not included in the Flash and therefore needs no ‘face screen’ :)

As you may notice, it is held in soft blue hues and some highlights in red that harmonize nicely with the original Facebook design. Although not my ‘usual’ color scheme, I had designed this banner when I set up this Facebook account a while ago and just optimized the flow with the new website I integrated here, featuring excerpts of web sites and web graphics I created. “Best Look” Web Design will soon be moved to its final destination and a new Flash Design will appear here. This is just the beginning . . .

Best Look Flash on Facebook

The next picture above shows the ‘real’ view of the “Best Look” Flash website once someone clicked on the button. Please enlarge or go HERE !

Facebook Flash Web Design

Customized Flash Web Design options to optimize your Facebook presence will be available to our customers shortly in my SHOP HERE as one of our sophisticated and search engine optimized Semiomantics applications.

A truly smart solution for the mobile person on the go.

To be continued . . .

Children Learn by Watching

By Zo Nicholas

Children Learn by Watching

It never ceases to amaze me how much children learn just by watching adults.  They also grasp things very quickly. My grandson just by watching me at the computer has already understood that when I  move the mouse or hit the keys things happen,  so for his next trick he tries to do the same. Rather than mess up my work, this is where Oli’s Fun House comes into play.

Oli's Fun House

Oli’s Fun House

Oli’s Fun House is my grandsons own play area online, totally safe where  I have full control of the content, full control of what he sees.  The site is suitable for his age group with a mix of images, some that he is already familiar with, all geared to help him learn and to build confidence and familiarity with a computer. [For today's young  generation computers, mobiles, ipods and ipads are the everyday tools they are surrounded by.] Included in the Fun House is an area where he can play with the mouse and see a very visual effect online, great for developing hand and eye co-ordination. I will also be including music and games on the site in the near future.

Oli’s Fun House is still a work in progress and more categories will be added as well and the images changed over time. It’s been a real joy creating the Fun House, it’s lighthearted and fun but finding time to work on this project is pretty difficult sometimes  for as most parents and grandparents know, children are time consuming one way or another.

Flash Web Design

Oli’s Fun House is based on the Semiomantics Evolution Script  which focuses totally on visual communication through various forms of media, such as images, audio and video. The content of such a Flash Web Site is provided by the customer and elaborated in collaboration with a web designer – a Semiomantics Certified Consultant who will then embed text and media into the flash environment.  Flash Web Design and Flash Intros are available at the Small Business Shop or  you can contact me here to discuss your project.

The Evolution Script is very flexible and can be adapted to most any purpose, whether personal or commercial. In today’s world of visual expression and communication flash websites are a very evocative way to capture a target audience. ‘A picture is worth a thousand words’ !

Best Look Web Design

Best Look Web Design is slowly taking form after I lost completely my connection yesterday during our Ycademy Seminar! Well. . . in the name of the FIFA 2010 Soccer World Cup and the smashing game I am willing to bring this sacrifice, but only as an exception! It’s too frustrating otherwise!

So here’s a sneak preview at the Contact Page. Please hit on the (compressed) image for better viewing!

Best Look Web Design on Facebook will be presenting visual excerpts and even videos of what we can offer in terms of Web Design, Web Graphics, Online Publishing and Website Development – it’s an attractive Showcase under our own control!

Control Your Facelook

Control Your Facelook

“Control your Facelook” means more than just a spiffy wordplay – it’s crucial to be in control of our own identity – and I mean in each and every sense of it. Another reason you may want to stay tuned to see what I will publish in the next days once I’ve caught up and have my online Facebook presence with “Best Look” Web Design as I intend it.

Best Look Web Design

Best Look Web Design combines within it the two elements that make or break a successful Website or Blog when it comes to SEO: an attractive visual part – the LOOK – and the alchemy of code in the background.

BEST LOOK Web Design

Please click the picture for enlarged better viewing.

Contrary to my previous example, I did not work with any stroke or shadow to frame the Artwork, but let the picture flow into the white background of my blog. It’s only in experimenting and testing that we come to our preferred conclusions and make our choices.

Best Look Web Design

I developed these versions of “Best Look” Web Design for the upcoming Ycademy Seminar that will focus on Facebook, and taught the same basics at last night’s Ycademy Workshop, to be directly executed on Adobe Photoshop.

I’m looking forward to seeing some examples on partner websites later in the day :).

Semiomantics Web Design on Google

Meanwhile, we keep monitoring the results of our daily publications.

And WOW! Yesterday’s post on “Semiomantics Web Design” went straight to Google Top 10 within just a few minutes – you see it now on positions 1 and 2 ahead of the competition even today. Please note the number of Web Design Ads – Google Ads – on the right-hand side, that are competing with us on this top ranking! Click the (compressed) image to enlarge it.

Semiomantics Web Design "BEST LOOK" on Google Number One

Qualified Semiomantics Experts

This is exactly your choice: pay 24/7/365 for Google Ads with forever rising costs – or invest in a good Semiomantics Script setup by one of the very few “Qualified Semiomantics Experts” and work your way to the top on your targeted keywords – and stay there.

Look forward to a new version of  Semiomantics Evolution!
