Visual Communication on Facebook
Visual Communication on Facebook and other Social Networks – in fact the Internet as a whole – is the trend in our fast-moving world on the go. Hardly anyone has the time nor the inclination to write or to read… or let’s say, it’s a matter of priorities. As we all have so much to cover each day of our lives – inbetween the family and the profession – we have to compromise and make choices as to how much time we can allocate or want to invest in what topic, with which person or doing what activity.

Visual Communication on Facebook
While Visual Communication on Facebook may be the modern way of transmitting messages, it’s not that different from the ancient times of hieroglyphics and cave paintings! In both cases the idea is that the image conveys the message fast and clear. In fact, the bushman paintings in the Kaokoveld of Southern Africa are not only aethetically stunning – especially with the effects of weather and time having influenced the colors and graphics over ages – but they express what the artist – possibly a hunter or medicine man himself – wanted to communicate to those who would visit the cave, the ancient ‘post box’ or ‘message board’. Interestingly, there are stunning parallels if cave paintings all over the world, eg in Lascaux in France and those in South Africa, are compared as I saw in scientific documentaries by the BBC.
Semiomantics Web Design
As Semiomantics Web Design is my professional focus and part of my passion right now, this is what I communicate to anyone visiting my personal or “Best Look” webpage on Facebook.
First impressions count and we often only have one shot… so we want to ensure we project the best image, our “best look” online.
However, while Facebook is a great way to interact – it’s Facebook, it’s not our home turf, it’s not under our control and we are – in a certain way – guests in someone else’s house. Yes, I agree… here the guests ARE the house, however, it doesn’t belong to the guests. Duhhh… ever thought of that?
Therefore, to safeguard our identity and to project a professional image, we also want our OWN house – and on the Internet that’s our OWN website and/or blog.Do you invite your friends and/or business associates and potential customers to a friends house to meet them? Would you? I don’t think so – so why would you do so online?
Sure, Facebook is fantastic for private matters, but most of us have a product or a service to sell – so we’ve got to find ways of dealing with professionals in a professional way.
Creating anyone’s personalized, customized and optimized Personal or Business Website and/or Blog, Photo Album, Business Presentation as well as a professional Facebook Image – is what I focus on with all it entails. Keep an eye on the next posts as there’s much more in the pipeline… and it’s exciting!
