WordPress Local Websites

We have been experimenting with different formats for town or city focused CMS and Blog websites. While the Newspaper or Magazine formats are attractive for readers, we know from Hanno Coetzee’s experience in South Africa (Garden Route Directory and corresponding Town Directories) that the directory format is more interesting for advertisers.

The new WP Best Destination Theme by Semiomantics combines the advantages of the two formats.

Sensuality

by Bianca Gubalke

Sensuality

Sensuality has to do with our five senses – sight, taste, hearing, touch and smell – and our degree of awareness thereof; in other words our perception of Life and anything that happens around us.

Sensuality is what my Online Newspaper  Touch Vision Talk was built on where we constrain ourselves to five main categories, referring to the five senses… plus obviously media-oriented categories like a photo gallery, a featured gallery, an art and presentation gallery and a media gallery for videos.

Sunbird on Agapanthus, 30 January 2010In the Digital Photo “Taste of Paradise” that I took of an adorable little sunbird on dark blue agapanthus blooming right now in Cape Town’s unique Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens yesterday – and the colors are absolutely untouched while I obviously turned this picture into a bit of Wildlife Art by creating and integrating other elements of my own personal taste – , I may assume that this Picture talks to more than just your visual receptors!

Sensuality in Images

In our previous article under the main topic ‘Web Graphics Design’, we spoke about “Pictures that Talk” and how to design “Images that Create Empathy” … and my simple answer to this is by creating digital pictures and images that appeal to one or more of our senses – and this irrespective of the topic. We can do this by expressing or translating our personal perception, understanding and skill in terms of :

  • Taste and Finesse
  • Aesthetics
  • Humor
  • Simplicity or Elaboration
  • Accuracy and Photo Realism … or the exact opposite thereof:
  • Absolute Freedom of Form and Shape etc…

in the style, technique and ways of our own choice.

As with anything of value, the closer we are connected to what we are doing – really within the process and part thereof – the more sensual the result and the response it triggers.

BEing in the NOW is the secret of it all – and the most important lesson to learn. Touching and being touched… that’s all there is.

Images that Create Empathy

by Bianca Gubalke

Images that Create Empathy

An important function of Images is to Create Empathy in the viewer, meaning an emotion, a feeling, something that resonates and as such carries our message across and – as a consequence – triggers a reaction.

In Advertising, this reaction is carefully calculated and anticipated.

Wildlife Art by Bianca Gubalke

Images that Create Empathy

Images that Talk blur the lines between us and ‘the other’ – in other words the sender (say the artist) and the receiver (the audience) and they are always images that Create Empathy – Empathy translating basically into feeling and our capability to underestand and share someone else’s emotions.

Heinz Kohut put it like this: “Empathy is the capacity to think and feel oneself into the inner life of another person.”

What counts for us as Web Graphic Designers when it comes to Websites and Blogs is that our Artwork reflects what we want to express at a given moment, for a specific reason… which is mostly articulated in text format. As such Web graphics amd Images are much more than a decorative element of a website; they have a very clear goal: to captivate peoples’ attention and to mobilize a desired reaction.

Google has recognized the increasing importance of Images and gives us many ways to tag them and give our posts an additional boost to reach top level rankings.

Optimization Website

by Bianca Gubalke

Optimization Website

Website Optimization is the most important – yet almost invisible – part in professional Web Design and Website Development.

If done correctly, it ensures that our websites and blogs perform well on search engines like Google. However, as things are constantly changing, like for instance Google’s algorhythm – there are no guarantees that what worked yesterday will bring the same results as today. Not at all! We better be flexible and accept that we have to bend to a temperamental online scenario; it won’t happen the other way around. This demands from us to monitor, observe and be aware of how our articles appear once posted – just as we watch how our racing horses and jockeys perform at a derby – and draw the necessary conclusions for possible changes from there.

Online Communications Market Research Analysis

by Bianca Gubalke

Online Communications Market Research Analysis

A thorough and constant Online Communications Market Research Analysis is fundamental for the success of any website or blog on the Internet, especially where products and/or services are being sold that depend on a high visibility on Search Engines and in Social Networks.

Awareness by Bianca Gubalke Web Graphics Design

Online Communications Market Research Analysis

Setting up an attractive website and positioning it on Google Top 10 is just the beginning of any project we manage at Web Design Consulting .

The important point now is to keep the position and continuously build and expand the authority and web presence of the website concerned within its targeted online market niche.

This goes far beyond simple Website Maintenance and Support; this is one of the secrets of our high performing Semiomantics Network and based on constant Awareness and Online Communications Market Research Analysis to spot new website developments and trends – and accordingly integrate new features, change scripts or adapt and accomplish whatever it takes to stay ahead of the competition.

Awareness

Awareness is the word!

Again, Nature is our best teacher – it’s so simple and we have it all within us! See the incredible ‘look-out’ I spotted yesterday… right amongst the wild proteas in my garden… with three long-tailed sunbirds watching in all directions on a high strategic position … to see and warn the entire clan! You can’t ask for a better example… and consulting with Wiki to get the official explanation: “Awareness is the state or ability to perceive, to feel, or to be conscious of events, objects or sensory patterns. In this level of consciousness, sense data can be confirmed by an observer without necessarily implying understanding. More broadly, it is the state or quality of being aware of something.

In biological psychology, awareness is defined as a human’s or an animal’s perception and cognitive reaction to a condition or event.”

Equally, we as Web Designers  have to always stay tuned and close to what’s happening, where the masses are moving and how we have to adapt to bring our products and services in front of them – if that’s our target.

With Semiomantics Scripts we endeavour to not only ride the wave but be a little step ahead of it. . . just watch what’s happening at our WP Best eShop… a project in development!
